The 1980's, A Time of
Change
The 1980's would see additions to the core business of Pioneer Handcraft
like never before. As the demand for our design services rose an interior
design division was established. This division was to handle design
and resort work on a commercial level.
In
1985, Country Inn Design was commissioned to undertake its largest
project to date, the complete interior restoration of Windermere House
on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka, Ontario. The century old country inn turned
out to be both a pleasure and a challenge to restore, and the resulting
work transforming. Regrettably Windermere House burned to the ground
nearly 10 years later, but the successful project helped to further
establish the name of Pioneer Handcraft in Muskoka, Ontario, and Canada.
In 1987 a branch showroom in Port Carling, Muskoka Ontario was established
to provide access and service to a growing market.
